Episode 8: The Healing Engine Isn't You
I've been facilitating practice groups for IFS-trained therapists for years. And there's a particular kind of moment that keeps showing up — where the therapist is technically doing everything right, and the session still isn't landing the way they hoped.
It usually isn't a skill problem. It's a positioning problem. Where their attention is. What they believe their job is in that room.
This episode came out of one of those groups. Grief was there. Fear was there. A pain part doing its best to hold things together. And underneath all of it — a therapist trying very hard to be a good therapist.
What I want to talk about is what I saw happening, and what it points to for anyone in the post-training season trying to figure out how to actually do this work with real people.
